Given the government has recently eased some lockdown restrictions, we are delighted to inform you that we are now once again able to offer our full servicing and maintenance services. We will however continue to adhere to strict health and safety measures and ask that our customers cooperate with this stringent policy, for the safety of all.

We have implemented several changes to allow us to help you to maintain your vital equipment. These can be seen in detail below and include servicing mobile equipment either outside premises in a pre-agreed safe working area, or within your premises in a pre-agreed room where the hoists can be brought to our engineers. Alternatively, for fixed equipment items such as track hoists and bath hoists, our engineers can go directly to these items, and then following servicing, immediately exit the building, minimising contact, yet ensuring your vital equipment is fully maintained. In all cases, our engineers will be dressed in full PPE.

This policy will be reviewed and updated regularly with a focus on the safety of all. Should you require any assistance at all with regards to LOLER and PUWER inspections, or equipment breakdowns, please contact one of our friendly experts who will be happy to help you. Call us on 01772 425310. Lines are open 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Alternatively you can email us at info@carehomelife.co.uk or request a call back by clicking here.

HSE Guidance

Please note, the HSE recognises the potential challenges the coronavirus epidemic presents to LOLER inspections, however has advised that the law remains in place. This means that duty holders (the care home) ensure any work equipment remains safe to use. More information can be found by clicking on this link.

Mobile Hoists & Stand Aids

Should you require servicing for mobile hoists and/or mobile stand aids, our servicing engineers will carry out inspections and repairs in one of two places. Our preferred option is a suitable working area outside of your premises that will be agreed in advance of any work taking place. The second option is within your premises in a pre-agreed room where equipment can be brought to our engineers and they are able to work whilst not coming into close contact with any care home colleagues or residents, again for the safety of all.

The care home must ensure any equipment is first cleaned, removing any contaminants, dust or debris, and then thoroughly disinfected with a suitable disinfectant spray or disinfecting wipes. The equipment should then be brought to the pre-agreed working area, where our engineers, wearing full PPE, will also clean, disinfect and then service the items. Our engineers will return the equipment to you cleaned, disinfected and serviced, ready for use.

Slings

Please can all care homes ensure slings are fully laundered, both washed and dried and remain unused by any carer or resident following washing, before being passed to our engineers for inspection. Engineers will carry out inspections in protective clothing sanitising their hands both before and after handling. We recommend that all care homes then wash and dry slings, once again, before use by carers and residents.

Beds, Baths and Track Hoists

Our engineers are once again able to service any fixed equipment such as baths and track hoists. Where this service is required, engineers will only enter your premises in full PPE and will go directly to these items, and then straight out of the building, minimising contact, yet ensuring your vital equipment is fully maintained.

Ahead of servicing and maintenance, the care home must ensure the equipment is first cleaned, removing any contaminants, dust or debris, and then thoroughly disinfected with a suitable disinfectant spray or disinfecting wipes. Our engineers will also clean and disinfect equipment following servicing, ready for use.

Protecting our Customers and our Colleagues

Please note that our engineers will have access to protective clothing, masks, gloves, cleaning tools, hand sanitiser gel and Selgiene disinfectant which is an independently tested virucidal cleaner. Our engineers will also maintain at least 2 metres social distancing at any time throughout any works taking place.

Please do not at any time ask our engineers to work outside of this policy as they are not permitted to do so. This is in order to lessen any risk of person-to-person transmission.
